| Game 1 vs. Morgan
- What a game! The kids played a great game considering we have not
been together for over a week! Brandon had two great innings on the
mound, Brady K. pitched a solid inning considering it was his first time
pitching in the Minors, Jonathon D. looked great behind the plate, and the rest
of the team had a good game as well. We came up a little short at the
end of the game, but we all grew up a little bit as ball players!! Way to go
guys.
Game 2 vs. Becker - 33 runs in a baseball game? I never thought I would see that ! Coach Becker's team jumped out to a 5 run lead in the top of the first inning but we responded with 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning. After each team fought back many times to take or regain the lead, Coach Becker's team finally managed to pull away. Buddy L. came in to pitch in the 4th inning and managed to strike out two batters which allowed us to pull closer when we hit in the bottom half of the inning. The whole team played a good game, but we also learned that we cannot quit at any time. We must play hard for six full innings in order to be successful.
Game 3 vs. Patton - What a game!!! Coach Patton's team jumped ahead 2-0 early, and then managed to score another run to take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning. After getting two outs, the Mad Jewelers responded when Jason C. drilled a line-drive single into left center field. A few batters later, with two runners on, Clayton L. smashes a game tying triple! Clinton D. comes to the plate and lays down a beautiful squeeze bunt that scored Clayton L. with the winning run!!! A definite cardiac clincher! Way to go Mad Jewelers!
Game 4 vs. Patton - The Mad Jewelers came up a little short today. Coach Patton's team brought their A-game and played a great game. The nice thing about baseball is that you get a chance to redeem yourself in your next game. Game 5 vs. Morgan - Once again, the MJ's came up a little short against Coach Morgan's team. Buddy L. started the game out on the mound and pitched great during his inning. Jason C. made a great tag on the runner attempting to steal third from the throw from Brandon H. to complete a fantastic play! Clayton L., Dave D., Clint D., Brandon H., and Jonathon D. all had good games on the mound. Clayton L. made a fantastic play on a screaming line drive hit down the first base line. Jonathon D. contributed at the plate with a blast to right center for a triple. Unfortunately, we stranded him at third base. Kory W's. bat is coming alive! He blasted a single in the early part of the game. Matt T., Derek S., provided the team with a tremendous defense in the outfield. Great game boys!!! Game 5 vs. Ketterer - Back and forth...that was definitely the theme of this game. Coach K's team roared out to a three run lead in the 1st but the Mad Jewelers responded with 5 unanswered runs in the bottom half of the same inning. Buddy L. and Brandon H. started things off with two great bunts followed by Jonathon D's smash hit that scored a couple of runs. Matt T. gave his all in the outfield along with the amazing Noah K., Justin H., who was called up from Pee Wee, and Dave D. Our infield struggled a bit with the gloves but never quit! The Mad Jewelers pitching of Buddy, Brady, Clint, and Jonathon was superb!!! Brady K. finally settled down and was really throwing some fire! Good job boys! Keep up the good work, the wins will come.
